The brief

A finance channel needs three different things from a production company and almost never gets them from the same one: a room that looks right on camera every week, coverage when the work happens somewhere else, and stills that can carry a speaker page. This client bought all three, one at a time.

What we ran

The studio came first as a rebuild rather than a set — the room had to keep working as a room, and it had to hold up on camera without being relit from scratch every recording. The film on this page is our own record of that, not something the client commissioned: a before and an after of the same seat. Then a conference, shot on stills. Speaking photography is unforgiving in a way a film crew is not — you cannot ask for the gesture again, the light is whatever the venue hung, and the frame that matters is usually a tenth of a second either side of the one you took. About forty came back from roughly five hundred and seventy frames. Then a talk at a school, filmed and cut twice, nine days apart. A second cut is not a correction; it is what happens when a talk turns out to have two audiences.

Result

The first thing this client bought was not on this page. We have made his podcast every fortnight since June 2024 — its own case here — and the three jobs above all came afterwards, for the channel that carries his own name. Two years of turning up before anybody asked us to rebuild a room is the endorsement; the three commissions are what it bought. Nothing from the conference or the school appears here: those frames are of a speaker on somebody else’s stage and of a talk given in a school, and neither is ours to publish.
