Making-of social

The brief

Wallpaper were running an editorial on the Christiane Kubrick x JW Anderson collaboration and wanted a short behind-the-scenes piece to carry it on social. A making-of has to do something the editorial cannot: show the room, the hands and the working, in a form somebody watches without sound on a phone.

What we ran

One person, shooting and cutting. On a set built for a magazine shoot that is usually the only workable answer — the photography is the reason everybody is there, and a second unit with its own lights and its own opinions is in the way. Working alone means moving with the day rather than interrupting it, and it means the person who was in the room is the person who later knows which ninety seconds of it were the ones worth keeping.

Result

Both cuts came out of the same day and the same pair of hands. The longer one went up on Wallpaper*'s channel with the photography team's credits, and ours among them — the article is the record, the film is the part that travels.
